Week 26

Date: 6/19/15

How far along: 26 weeks

Fruit-size comparison: Head of lettuce

Maternity clothes: I love my maternity clothes.  I just ordered a couple tank tops and short sleeve shirts so hopefully I'll be set for the rest of the summer.

Weight gain:  13 lbs. at my last appointment, probably a little more than that now.

Stretch Marks: Not yet.

Sleep: Unfortunately, I continued to be sick this week so coughing fits woke me up a few nights in a row.  Things seem to be mostly back to normal now, though.

Best moment of the week:  It seems weird to say this, but it was nice to be done saying goodbye to some of my co-workers on Friday.  I'm not a big fan of goodbyes and it felt so good to have that behind me.  It's been a long, hard 9 months at a job I didn't really like and I'm so close to being done with that chapter of my life.

Movement:  This baby moves a lot!  I feel like I'm constantly putting my hands on my belly to see what he's up to.

Cravings: Nothing different or unusual

Gender: Boy!

Anything making you queasy/sick: Nope.

What I miss:  My pre-pregnancy immune system.  This week I had a nasty cough that was pretty miserable.  It's finally getting better now.

What I’m looking forward to: Work is almost done!  I have two more days this week and then I'm done.  And then I'm heading to Nebraska with my family on Thursday for the 4th of July weekend.  There is lots to look forward to right now.

Symptoms:  I got a lot of Braxton-Hicks contractions at the beginning of the week.  I think my body was stressed out from all the coughing. It made me pretty nervous, but my body seems to have settled down now.

Emotions:  This hasn't been the easiest week because of being sick, but I'm so excited about being almost done with work and my vacation that I'm feeling really good about life at the moment.

Week 25

Date: 6/19/15

How far along: 25 weeks

Fruit-size comparison: Cauliflower

Maternity clothes: I love my maternity clothes.  I still need to invest in some warm weather clothing, but I'm still able to wear some pre-pregnancy shirts so that helps.

Weight gain:  13 lbs. at last week's appointment.

Stretch Marks: Not yet.

Sleep: It continues to be better since I've started seeing the chiropractor.

Best moment of the week:  I got to take my cousin and her son to the beach on Monday.  They're from out of state and it was fun to see the reaction of 14 month old Ivan seeing the big lake for the first time.  I can't wait to have those moments with my son someday.

Movement:  This baby moves a lot! I'm starting to feel some bigger movements and I think he might have had hiccups yesterday.  It was so cute.

Cravings: Not this week.  I haven't been able to eat much.:(

Gender: Boy!

Anything making you queasy/sick: Well, I actually had the stomach flu this week so I'm not currently feeling sick, but I certainly was two days ago.

What I miss:  My pre-pregnancy immune system. Not only did I have the stomach flu this week, but I also have a cold.  So I've had two colds and two bouts of the stomach flu since being pregnant.  I'm hoping I can remain healthy for the remainder of the pregnancy.

What I’m looking forward to: Work is almost done! I have less than two weeks to go.  I'm also starting to get dates on the calendar for baby showers.  It will be so fun to celebrate my baby boy.

Symptoms:  I've been getting Braxton-Hicks contractions a lot.  I keep hearing that it's normal and even good for you, but it makes me nervous sometimes.  Lately I get them when I go for a walk and it's really uncomfortable.

Emotions:  This hasn't been the easiest week because of being sick.  I also got a comment from a lady at work about how I look bigger than I should, which is the first time I've gotten a comment like that.  It actually bothered me more than it should have.  So I guess you could say that this hasn't been the easiest pregnancy week.  Hopefully next week will be better.

Week 24

How far along: 24 weeks

Fruit-size comparison: Cantaloupe
Maternity clothes: I love my maternity clothes.  I still need to invest in some warm weather clothing, but I'm still able to wear pre-pregnancy shirts so that helps.

Weight gain:  13 lbs. total

Stretch Marks: Not yet.

Sleep: It continues to be better since I've started seeing the chiropractor.

Best moment of the week:  Getting another good report from the doctor.  She said everything is looking great and she has no concerns.  We talked about how my baby was a bit on the large side at the ultrasound and she said it could be just because Nate's family has large babies or it could have been a growth spurt.  It sounded like the worst case is if I have gestational diabetes.  She didn't seem too concerned because I was measuring normally at my appointment.

Movement:  This baby moves a lot!  Each day I think I'm feeling more and more movement from him.

Cravings: Nothing new or different

Gender: Boy!

Anything making you queasy/sick: Nope.

What I miss:  Not much.

What I’m looking forward to: Being done with work.  I only have two weeks to go and I can't wait to have more time to get the nursery ready and then get out of town for a few days.   I also have out of town guests staying at my house this weekend and that should be fun.

Symptoms: My belly button is starting to flatten out and I'm developing the linea negra, which is that line you can get down your belly when you're pregnant.  I also have been having more issues with heartburn and I think I've been having Braxton-Hicks contractions.
Emotions:  I'm still feeling a bit overwhelmed.  I have another work event on Saturday, while my guests are here.  And my grandma is in the hospital and not doing well. And on top of that, yesterday was the due date for the baby I miscarried in October.  Although almost all of my attention has been focused on this baby, it's still weird to think that I could have given birth already or had a baby in the next week or so. This baby has brought so much healing to my life and I'll be forever grateful, but I'll never forget my June baby...

Week 23

Date: 6/6/15

How far along: 23 weeks

Fruit-size comparison: Grapefruit, although mine is likely bigger since he was measuring ahead in the ultrasound.:)

Maternity clothes: I love my maternity clothes.  I still need to invest in some warm weather clothing, but I'm still able to wear pre-pregnancy shirts so that helps.

Weight gain:  I'm not sure yet.  I guess I'll find out on my appointment on Monday.

Stretch Marks: Not yet.

Sleep: It continues to be better since I've started seeing the chiropractor.

Best moment of the week:  Nate finally got to feel the baby move. It was fun to see his reaction to our baby wiggling around.

Movement:  This baby moves a lot!  The other day I had caffeine and the baby was moving around a lot all day.  It's a good reminder to me why I limit my caffeine intake.

Cravings: I've been wanting rich, choclately things.  I've been drinking a lot of smoothies with cocoa powder lately.  It's a good compromise because I get my fix, but it's still healthy.

Gender: Boy!

Anything making you queasy/sick: Nope.

What I miss:  Not much.

What I’m looking forward to: My appointment on Monday.  My doctor had told me that baby was measuring a little big and that they want to monitor his growth so I'm curious how big he's gotten and if it's in the normal range.  I think I get a little concerned because I have two friends who have gestational diabetes and neither of them had any risk factors.

Symptoms: My belly button is starting to flatten out and I'm developing the linea negra, which is that line you can get down your belly when you're pregnant.  I find the changes in my body so fascinating!

Emotions:  I'm feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment. Work is pretty busy this time of year and, obviously, I'm trying to wrap up everything before I leave.  I also went to graduation last night for my Ortho residents and it was pretty emotional for me.  I was reminded how much I wish I could have finished my job with them and not started this new job that I don't like, with co-workers and residents who don't know me at all.  I really should write that post I've been meaning to write about my job change...
