Week 22

Date: 5/30/15

How far along: 22 weeks

Fruit-size comparison: Papaya

Maternity clothes:  I  recently got a bunch of maternity clothes from both my sister-in-law and my friend, Alexis.  It's been so nice having more clothing options lately.  I'm going to have buy some shorts, tank tops, and dresses, but I'm mostly set with long-sleeve shirts and pants. (Thank you, Katie and Alexis!)

Weight gain:  I haven't weighed myself since my doctor's appointment. I haven't been quite as hungry lately so I'm very curious how much I've gained this time around.

Stretch Marks: Not yet.

Sleep: It's been a little better again.  The chiropractor is having me come in twice a week right now and I think it's doing the trick!  Next week I'm also getting a medical massage and the chiropractor is going to teach me some stretches.  Hopefully it will all keep me a little more comfortable for the rest of the pregnancy.

Best moment of the week:  I  officially resigned from my job on Tuesday and my last day is June 30.  I'm going to enjoy a summer off and then try being a stay at home mom.  It's going to be quite an adjustment, but right now I'm looking forward to it.  It's really weird being done with my job and it's not entirely happy, but it was nice to get the awkwardness of resigning over with.   I might write a whole post about it because I feel like I have a lot of emotions to sort through.

Movement:  I love feeling the baby move around.  He's active fairly often so I get a lot of reassurance that he's doing well in there.

Cravings: I think it's mostly sweets.  I really have to work at not constantly having ice cream, especially now that it's warm.

Gender: Boy!

Anything making you queasy/sick: Nope.

What I miss:  Not much.

What I’m looking forward to: My next doctor's appointment and being done with my job.

Symptoms: Just a growing belly and back pain.  I get occasional heartburn, but if I take a few Tums I can keep it under control.  I also noticed the other day that my belly button is getting flat.  I'm curious if I'll get an outtie.

Emotions:  I'm really feeling quite happy and ready to nest.  As most of you probably know, I'm kind of a procrastinator so I haven't done much for the nursery yet, but I'm excited to get it cleaned out and full of baby things!

Week 21

Date: 5/24/15
How far along: 21 weeks

Fruit-size comparison: Pomegranate

Maternity clothes: I've been wearing maternity pants exclusively.   I don't have a lot of maternity shirts, but I don't feel like the belly is growing that quickly so it doesn't matter yet. I feel like I'm kind of at an awkward stage where maternity clothes are too big, but I don't have a lot of clothing options in my closet.

Weight gain:  I haven't weighed myself since my last appointment, but I'm guessing I've gained a little more weight.

Stretch Marks: Not yet.

Sleep: Not great.  I don't really have a hard time getting to sleep, but staying asleep is hard for me.  I can't seem to sleep much past 6 or 6:30 and I wake up frequently during the night. I got a body pillow and I started seeing a chiropractor, but neither have helped that much yet.

Best moment of the week:  Seeing my baby on the ultrasound and finding out we are having a boy was the best moment.:)  It was such a fun experience because we got to see him wiggling around and we saw him yawn a couple times.  It's nice to see what he's up to in there.

Movement:  He's been moving like crazy, but Nate still hasn't been able to feel him yet.

Cravings: Nothing really new or different.

Gender: Boy!

Anything making you queasy/sick: Nope.

What I miss:  Sleeping well and not waking up in pain.

What I’m looking forward to:  Getting the nursery all set up.  We can't really do much in there until Nate cleans it out.:)

Symptoms: Just a growing belly and back pain.  I get occasional heartburn, but if I take a few Tums I can keep it under control.

Emotions:  I'm really feeling quite happy. I love getting a good report from the doctor and checking up on baby.

Week 19

Date: 5/11/15

How far along: 19 weeks

Fruit-size comparison: Mango

Maternity clothes: I've been wearing maternity pants exclusively.   I don't have a lot of maternity shirts, but I don't feel like the belly is growing that quickly so it doesn't matter yet. I feel like I'm kind of at an awkward stage where maternity clothes are too big, but I don't have a lot of clothing options in my closet.

Weight gain:  11 lbs. total.  That seems like a lot to me, but my doctor wasn't concerned. I guess I was right about having a growth spurt.  I'll just have to make sure I don't get too out of control with my eating.

Stretch Marks: Not yet.

Sleep: It's not quite as good as it was.:(  I'm starting to get a lot of back pain during the night and I haven't been enjoying sleeping on my side.  I ordered a body pillow from Amazon that should arrive today and I've started doing some yoga videos I found on youtube.  Hopefully doing those things will help.  My doctor also recommended a chiropractor in town that also does massages so I'm going to make an appointment there.

Best moment of the week:  I had another great doctor appointment today.  It's so reassuring to hear that heartbeat and know that everything is going well.

Movement:  I feel quite confident about movement now.  I feel the baby every once in awhile during the day, but he/she is really active at night.  I can even feel the movement from the outside sometimes, but it doesn't happen consistently enough for Nate to feel it yet.

Cravings: Nothing really new or different.

Gender: I will know on May 21.

Anything making you queasy/sick: Nope.

What I miss:  Sleeping well and not waking up in pain.

What I’m looking forward to: My ultrasound.  It can"t come fast enough!

Symptoms: Just a growing belly and back pain.  I get occasional heartburn, but if I take a few Tums I can keep it under control.
Emotions:  I'm really feeling quite happy. I love getting a good report from the doctor and checking up on baby.

Week 18

Date: 5/2/15
How far along: 18 weeks

Fruit-size comparison: Green Pepper
Maternity clothes: I've been wearing maternity pants exclusively.   I don't have a lot of maternity shirts, but I don't feel like the belly is growing that quickly so it doesn't matter yet. I feel like I'm kind of at an awkward stage where maternity clothes are too big, but I don't have a lot of clothing options in my closet.
Weight gain:  Not sure. I was up 5 lbs. at my last appointment and I'm sure it's up a bit since then.
Stretch Marks: Not yet.
Sleep: I'm sleeping well, although I've recently noticed that turning over feels a little more uncomfortable.  There's too much weight in my midsection.:)
Best moment of the week:  This has been a pretty good week.  I got to meet my new niece, who was born yesterday. I can't believe that soon I'll have a little one of my own!
Movement:  I'm pretty sure, but I don't completely trust myself.:)  It has been a lot more consistent this week so I'm hoping it's real.
Cravings: I've been really wanting mashed potatoes lately.
Gender: I will know on May 21.
Anything making you queasy/sick: Nope.
What I miss:  I feel like I'm at a really good point in my pregnancy so I don't miss much of anything.
What I’m looking forward to: My ultrasound.  I'm also looking forward to my next appointment on May 11.
Symptoms: I had another migraine on Monday and I've had a couple more headaches this week.  Headaches and migraines have been my most consistent symptoms the whole pregnancy.  I've also developed some issues with heartburn.  It's not a huge deal yet, but we'll see how it goes for the remainder of the pregnancy.
Emotions:  I'm really feeling quite happy. And today I mowed the lawn for the first time since being pregnant.  I know it's not a big deal, but it made me feel quite accomplished.  It's nice to  feel like I can still do most of the same activities I did before I was pregnant with minimal discomfort.
